An Advocate for Lucas County – As a member of the Lucas County Statehouse delegation, Barbara has worked with her colleagues to ensure that our region is well represented in Columbus. Barbara is the primary sponsor of House Joint Resolution 5, which will place a $400 million bond issue before Ohio voters this November to renew “Clean Ohio”. This program has helped transform Lucas County since its inception. Barbara will continue to be a strong voice for western Lucas County.
Jobs - A small business owner, Barbara Sears believes rebuilding our economy begins right here at home, by protecting American jobs and helping families keep more of what they earn. Barbara co-sponsored bi-partisan legislation that waives fines or penalties for paperwork violations that are first-time offenses committed by small businesses. As State Representative, Barbara will fight to cut job-killing government red tape and frivolous lawsuits that cost jobs and drive up the cost of health care.
Education – As a proud mother of two Barbara Sears knows the importance of a quality education. When it comes to educating Ohio’s children, local parents and teachers know best – not bureaucrats in Columbus. That’s why Barbara is committed to empowering local parents and teachers in our schools. She’ll fight to make sure our schools receive their fair share of the state budget, taking the burden off of local taxpayers.
Healthcare – As a member of the House Health Committee and as a legislator that owns an employee benefit and health insurance agency, Barbara Sears has been active in working on the issues affecting the health of Ohioans. Barbara Sears supports medical liability reforms enacted by the Ohio General Assembly. She will continue to work to help Ohioans have access to healthcare coverage.
